CJL Investments launches Kunaavashi Island Retreat
CJL Investment Pvt Ltd has launched the project to develop Kunaavashi Island Retreat & Spa as a five-star boutique resort in Vaavu Atoll.
The resort will comprise of 71 villas including 38 over water villas and 33 beach villas. It will also feature specialty restaurants, spa and an infinity swimming pools. Kunaavashi can be reached by 15 minutes by seaplane or an hour by speedboat.
Kunaavashi island is leased to CJL for 50 years. Construction will be started in September and resort is expected to open in December 2016.
Tourism Minister, Ahmed Adeeb signed the agreement with CJL on Monday at ceremony held at Hotel Jen. CJL is a joint venture by Guangdong Beta Ocean Ltd and Maldivian partners. This will be the first resort development in Maldives by private investors from China. Ahmed Adeeb said beautiful Maldives open to welcome everyone and will fully support new investors.
“We are investing here as Maldives is a popular destination with Chinese travellers and opportunities are available here. The investment will bring development to Maldives and China relations. We are sure other investors are also interested in Maldives” said the chairman of CJL, Chujin Liang.
